Karen is an Associate working in the Social Housing Team and has been acting for Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) for over nine years.
Karen’s main area of specialism is setting up Shared Ownership Schemes (such as Newbuild Homebuy, Key Worker and Restricted Equity), and supervising the sales and subsequent staircasing transactions.
In addition Karen has experience of dealing with Section 38, Section104 and Section 106 Agreements, Easements, Site Acquisition, Charging tranches of Properties, RTA/RTB sales and individual open market sales and purchases.
Karen has recently advised in relation to:
- Preparation of a Shared Ownership Scheme incorporating restricted equity subleases reflecting S106 obligations applying to a rural exception site
- The setting up on behalf of an RSL and an unregistered association of a joint scheme involving the sale of flats, some under the Homebuy scheme and others on the open market (some of the open market flats being sold on restricted equity sub-leases with specific provision for the subsequent purchase from the unregistered association of retained equity)
- Setting up a Newbuild Homebuy scheme involving flats, coach houses, maisonettes and houses
