John is Partner and Head of the Employment Team. John returns to his roots on the South Coast having joined Stones from Top 200 leading regional firm BPE LLP in Gloucestershire.
John is well versed in all areas of employment law and frequently advises businesses on restructuring, collective issues, TUPE matters arising out of business transfers and outsourcing, employment aspects of insolvency, together with day to day issues such as disciplinary, grievance and bespoke drafting of executive service agreements, contracts of employment, and consultancy agreements.
John has recently advised on the following:-
- A large scale multi-party TUPE claim on behalf of a Plc Facilities Management business employing over 50,000 people worldwide
- A large scale collective redundancy on behalf of an owner managed commercial cleaning business.
- A race discrimination claim on behalf of a national laundry operator
- Provided advice and bespoke drafting on behalf of a demolition and waste management business on a high value contract involving inheritance of employees from the public sector, by way of a TUPE transfer.
John’s expertise has been recognised independently by the Legal 500 2010 in which John was accredited as follows “John Turnbull is excellent and reviews cases from a business perspective”.
John is known for his practical and commercial approach and works in sectors from construction to charities and is acknowledged by clients and colleagues for his no nonsense advice.
John also regularly provides advice in relation to negotiation of exit strategies for both senior executives and companies.
John is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association, regularly presents training case study updates on all aspects of Employment Law, presents for the CIPD and appears in National Employment Law Publications.
