James has extensive experience of acting for Housing Associations in site acquisition and development work, construction issues and other property-related matters. His former firm in London is well known nationally for its social housing practice.
This appointment is part of our strategic development to strengthen what is already a higly respected and exerienced Social Housing Team listed by Chambers and the Legal 500.

James' particular areas of expertise are:-
- Negotiation of S106 Planning Agreements
- Land acquisition for development, either in the context of Section 106 Agreements or stand alone development sites for Housing Associations
- Negotiation of conditional land purchase agreements
- Negotiation of Development Agreements
- Expertise on complicated SDLT and VAT issues in the context of Housing Association Development
- Knowledge of effects of EU Procurement rules on Housing Associations
- Knowledge of HCA Grant Funding regime
- Negotiation of Statutory Agreements (Road and Sewer adoption) and Deeds of Grant including utility companies
- Disposal of Housing Association properties, both at auction and otherwise
