Appoinments Show Commitment to Legal Training
Leading Devon law firm Stones Solicitors LLP has again shown its ongoing commitment to developing home-grown talent by recruiting three new trainees for this year.
Stones shows its commitment to its ongoing trainee development programme by recruiting two or three trainee solicitors each year. Trainees gain a wealth of experience by working in four departments over two years in a variety of contentious and non-contentious areas of the firm. The most successful can go on to become solicitors and eventually partners.
This year Stones’ three new trainees are Margaret McQuaid, Nicole Spurling and Nicola Copeland.
Margaret took a legal practice course at BPP Law School in Manchester before gaining a law degree from Queen’s University, Belfast. Before joining Stones she was a paralegal for a law firm in Manchester.
Nicole took her legal practice course at the College of Law, Guildford, before gaining a degree in law with Spanish at the University of the West of England, Bristol. Her most recent position was as a legal assistant at a law firm in Surrey.
Nicola took a legal practice course at the University of the West of England and gained a degree in business law from Aberystwyth University. She is currently a paralegal at Stones.
Karen Bonser, Head of HR at Stones, said: “We are committed to investing in our future lawyers, and actively encourage their career progression and personal development. We select the best candidates through a competitive assessment day where we look for them to demonstrate more than just technical knowhow - we want our trainees to demonstrate their commitment, enthusiasm and passion for the law, alongside the desire to deliver exceptional client service. Our trainees are all-rounders - they are not only academically excellent, but also personable, ambitious and determined.”
Stones is currently accepting applications for training contracts in 2013. The cut off date for applications is 31st January 2012. The assessment day and call back interviews will be made in February and March 2012, and training contracts will be offered by the end of April.
