Afternoon Tea Event Looks at Retirement Planning

Leading Devon law firm Stones Solicitors LLP has joined forces with Age UK Devon, Davidson’s Independent Financial Advisors and PSP Healthcare Limited to run a free afternoon tea event at its Hawthorn Lodge home in Hatherleigh, offering advice and support regarding issues surrounding retirement planning.

The event is important not just for those in retirement, but also those planning retirement and those who care for or have responsibility for an elderly person.

Starting at 2.30pm on Thursday 17th November, the event will cover a number of hot topics including: Lasting Power of Attorneys, what are they and why are they so important; what financial plans can be made for long-term care; who will manage your finances if you cannot; what is an advance decision, and do I need one; advice and support for caring for a loved one; and flexible care.

The event is open to a limited number of people, so it is vital to book a place by calling Hawthorn Lodge on 01837 810602.

Frank Cook from the Private Client Team at Stones said: “Ours in an ageing population: in 1985 there were 690,000 people aged 85 and over. Today, this figure is 1.4 million and is projected to grow to 3.6 million by 2035. As a consequence, families face potential crises of care – more generations will exist at the same time within families than ever before leaving the question, ‘who will care for who?’

“That’s why we have joined forces with Age UK Devon and PSP Healthcare Limited to run a free event over afternoon tea to help people identify the issues that are relevant to them and suggest solutions for them for their future.”
