Nick is a Partner and deals with Children work and Defence Advocacy.
He is a member of the Law Society Children Panel and specialises in representing parents, children and Court appointed Children’s Guardians in all variety of cases in both the Public and Private arena.
His expertise in the Public Law area includes Care Proceedings, Adoption, Special Guardianship and Secure Accommodation Proceedings, which can involve highly sensitive and challenging issues of Non accidental injury, physical or sexual abuse, learning disability and mental health problems, and the abuse of alcohol and drugs.
Alongside this Nick also acts in Private Law Proceedings involving Residence and Contact which can also present issues of enormous importance for the Parties involved.
He has recently been instructed in cases involving:
- Serious non-accidental injuries to non-ambulant infants
- Historic allegations of multi generational Familial abuse
Nick also retains a practice as a Duty Solicitor and Defence Advocate and his experience and expertise in this additional area proves particularly useful on the frequent occasions when Criminal allegations play a significant in the Children proceedings.
In all aspects of his work Nick tries to concentrate on providing a service tailored to the specific needs of the individual client with advise based on common sense and pragmatism
