Graham Simm

Partner

Graham is a Partner and Head of the Family Team, with over twenty years Post Qualification experience.

Graham is a Member of the Law Society Family Panel and is a qualified Collaborative Lawyer. He is also a member of Resolution (formerly the Solicitors Family Law Association), and believes in giving clear and firm advice as to the choices available to a client as they go through the process of relationship breakdown, and guiding a client through the ups and downs of the separation process.

Graham specialises in financial matters arising from divorce and separation, and has a thorough background in child related law arising from both relationship breakdown and from Local Authority intervention in the Family. He also has a specialism in the setting up of "living together" arrangements through the drafting of appropriate Cohabitation Agreements, trust documentation etc.

Over the years Graham has acted for many overseas clients with a spread of international assets, and regularly deals with High Net Worth cases.

Whilst mainly acting in Privately Funded matters, Graham does handle some Legally Aided work.

Graham sits on the Firm's Strategic Board and is the Head of Litigation Services in the Firm, and as such has particular responsibility for the delivery of litigation and dispute resolution services to private clients of the firm, (including LSC funded work).

Graham has recently advised in relation to:

  • A multi million pound divorce where it was felt necessary to apply to the Court to freeze all international assets to prevent their disposal
  • A case reported in the Family Law Reports that went to the Court of Appeal regarding the question of shared Residence Orders and the circumstances in which these orders should be made
  • A case involving the offsetting of UK based Capital Assets against overseas pension assets that could not be valued using the method prescribed by UK legislation
